The Encounter Experience
In our society, there exist significant gaps between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged groups, which are further widened by various forms of segregation. Our association aims to raise awareness of this issue, and our programs create a safe and inclusive environment for children from diverse social backgrounds to come together and learn from one another. Our goal is to foster a unique sense of community among children from varying social backgrounds, enabling them to grow into socially sensitive and resilient adults. We achieve this through experiential education methods, which involve a wide range of activities such as sports, games, arts and crafts, and outings. To ensure that all interested children have equal opportunities to participate and develop, our programs are offered free of charge to all participants, regardless of their financial circumstances.
Our programmes
Kacsakő Sport Camp
Since 2019, we have been organizing a week-long sports and adventure summer camp for children aged 10-14, who come from various social backgrounds and become part of the Kacsakő community. Fair play team sports, adventure activities, arts and crafts, and various workshops will offer a lifetime experience for the participating children.
Kacsakő Klub
We host monthly club sessions during which we strive to organize exciting activities that recapture the enjoyable and inclusive atmosphere of the Kacsakő camp. The goal of our programs is to support the maintenance of existing friendships while also extending a warm welcome to new friends joining our sessions.
Kacsakő Next
Our Kacsakő Next program, which is part of the international three-year initiative Generation Europe - The Academy, is attended by our seasoned campers aged 13 and above. These campers, now considered "buddies" take on more significant responsibilities within the Kacsakő community, guiding and contributing to its activities.

Our goal
In our Kacsakő programs, we create a secure and inclusive bubble for children from diverse social backgrounds to come together, learn from one another, and foster a sense of community. Our objective is to unite children from various backgrounds, including Roma and non-Roma, those residing in children's homes, representing minority and majority groups, as well as those from both economically disadvantaged and affluent families. Our aim is to diminish prejudice and bridge gaps while nurturing their psychosocial development. We assist children in resolving conflicts within a safe setting, encouraging them to understand each other's perspectives. We firmly believe that through these efforts, we help shape socially aware and resilient adults capable of handling misunderstandings in their later lives. We hold that inclusive sports and adventure programs play a significant role in reducing children's biases and empowering them to advocate for their interests. The core of our organized programs revolves around non-formal, experiential, and outdoor learning methods. We place a special emphasis on fair play sports because sports serve as a means to build bridges among individuals from diverse social backgrounds. Sports become a universal language that transcends intercultural disparities. Our games involve teams collaboratively establishing rules, practicing democratic decision-making, and playing without referees, fostering children's ability to stand up for themselves and their team when they witness injustice or foul play.

The Encounter Experience
We believe that inclusive sport and adventure programmes help to reduce children's prejudices and empower them to assert their interests. The main tools of our organised programmes are based on non-formal, experiential and outdoor learning methods. We pay particular attention to fair play sports, as sport is a great way to bring children together at this age, regardless of their family background. Setting the rules of the game together allowed them to practice democratic decision-making and encouraged them to stand up for themselves and others when they experienced injustice. We create a safe environment for them to mediate conflicts and encourage non-violent communication and problem-solving.
Our methods

Fair play sports
Laying down the rules of the matches together lets the children practice democratic decision making. Playing the games only with the support of an adult mediator we empower them to stand up for themselves when they experience injustice.

Arts & Crafts
Beside team sports, we create the opportunity for individual focus through arts & crafts activities where children can develop their manual skills while they practice self-expression and build their self-esteem.

Adventures
Stepping out of the comfort zone opens up the world of the children and contributes to tackle challenges of their own lives. Participating on these programmes also fosters group cohesion.

Teamworks
We create diverse groups of children and we support positive changes on group dynamics by implementing a project together. While working in small groups we provide a safe place for reflections.

Attitude-forming workshops
In group sessions, we talk to children about topics that affect and concern them.Friendships and relationships, conflict management techniques, prejudice, lifestyle and social issues are also discussed.

Sepcial guest programmes
These programs bring a new color to the everyday life of the camp, including capoeira, break dancing and improvisational drama sessions to enrich children with new skills and experiences.

2023
Almost unbelievable, but this was our fifth Kacsakő Camp! Thanks to year-round club programs and team-building weekends, we've grown into the community we dreamed of when we started. Once again, we came home with many wonderful experiences, new friends and pockets full of cathartic or even light-hearted moments of laughter.

We are the new generation
The Kacsakő Next programme is for experienced campers over the age of 13, who are now "comrades in arms" and take on a more responsible role in the life of the Kacsakő community than younger campers.
As part of the Generation Europe - The Academy international programme, the aim of our Kacsakő Next programme is to build teams, develop the skills of the children involved (communication, teamwork, creativity), learn English and gain international experience. The programme will run for three years, from 2022 to 2024, and will consist of the following elements in a nutshell:
• Monthly meetings: brainstorming, KacsaKő adventure activities, learning English
• English language challenges to be completed in English and on a phone app
• Yearly participation in international camps (Portugal, Germany, Hungary)
• Participation in a Kacsakő Camp as a comrade
